Lil' Diner Review and Giveaway Closed!

I know that when my babies were ready to start eating table food, I was excited. I was excited to introduce them to new foods and expand their pallets. Then once its time to allow them to feed themselves, I was excited but at the same time I knew to expect a huge mess. I dont know a baby who is not messy when it comes to self feeding. My son is 2 and he still makes quite a mess. Most of the time he doesnt mean to make a mess. His plate or bowl may slide around when he is trying to get food off of it, or, when he is in one of his many ornery moods, he will make a mess just to make a mess. I know that just about every kid does this. Well, as soon as I was sent the Lil' Diner, I had to try it out. First of all this is so easy to assemble, then you attach it to a flat surface. You attach the plate or bowl to the top suction cup and the 2 bottom suction cups to the tray or table. Once it is attached, you are ready to serve your kiddo! I had my doubts, but after serving a couple of meals and no spills or plates slipping onto the floor, I am convinced and I now have a new feeding buddy for my little man! The Lil' Diner is truly perfect for feeding time for your little ones!! You know what the best part of this is, not only was I given a Lil' Diner to test and review in my home courtesy of Lil' Diner, I will be giving one of these awesome little devices to one of my awesome readers!!

stride rite STEP Review

Being a parent, we all know that shoe shopping can be quite a chore. Finding the correct size and fit for your child is very important. Stride Rite has recently announced a new system to help make shoe shopping easier for you and your kids. The new system is called the STEP system. I have their press release below about the new shoe shopping tool.
The STEP system is a new in-store program intended to make shoe shopping easier on parents and helps ensure quality, healthy footwear for every key developmental stage.  stride rite shoes under the STEP program are built with fit, flexibility, comfort and durability in mind and are scientifically tested, as well as validated through studies on children's walking patterns in various shoes including barefoot.  stride rite branded shoes go through extensive testing of materials, fit and wear with shoes typically being fit-tested on at least five children and real-world wear-tested for a period of 30 days.  As well, the recently completed 2010 "Effects of Footwear on Children Learning to Walk" study, a SRCG-commissioned research initiative conducted in conjunction with the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, validates stride rite's design as being best for babyto reduce stumbles and falls when learning to walk. Specifically, for example, the rounded edges and soft structure of the SRT™ Soft Motion product outperformed all other shoe products and tested the closest to barefoot.  Shoes that mimic barefoot are important as babies and toddlers need footwear that conforms to the surfaces they are walking on and flexes in multiple directions.
Few parents realize that children's feet remain vulnerable to ill-fitting shoes right up to the age of 18 years.  A recent survey of 1,132 Moms conducted by Mom Central Consulting (MCC) found:
  • 96% of Moms surveyed felt that proper footwear is either very important or important for their child's overall well-being, although they did not know the critical years for bone development or walking patterns.
  • 80% of Moms never discussed the importance of foot development and proper footwear with their child's pediatrician.
  • 69% of the surveyed Moms did not know if their child's shoes have been tested, even though a quality shoe is the most important factor when making a purchasing decision.
  • 44% of Moms don't know critical bones in the foot aren't completely formed until age 5.

The effects of childhood foot damage can show up in posture and walking gait even in the early 20s.  The STEP program helps address the needs of children's feet and provides parents an easy-to-shop method that is based on both the developmental stage of their children, as well as the trusted and proven assurance behind every stride rite shoe.
"Up until age five, a child's foot is still forming and is mostly cartilage, making it easy for parents to accidentally squeeze feet into ill-fitting shoes," said Dr. Tanya Altmann, FAAP, a pediatrician and best-selling author of Mommy Calls: Dr. Tanya Answers Parents' Top 101 Questions About Babies and Toddlers. "stride rite's STEP program helps to educate parents on how choosing the right footwear is a significant building block in a child's wellness."
The program consists of three distinct STEPs including:

STEP 1: Pre-walkers
Soft support allows tiny toes to wiggle freely.
Child's Developmental Stage:
  • Crawling
  • Kicking their feet

Key Technology: Robeez® by stride rite® is a pioneer in pre-walkers and offers a wide assortment of leather soft sole shoes that are designed to flex and bend to help promote healthy foot development. And with the elasticized easy-on, stay-on feature, those little feet will always be protected, no matter where adventure leads them.

STEP 2: Cruisers & Early Walkers
Unique design mimics the natural shape of the foot to reduce stumbles and falls.
Child's Developmental Stage:
  • Cruising
  • Taking a few steps
  • Walking independently for less than 5 months

Key Technology: From crawling to cruising, SRT™ Soft Motion is designed for early walkers offering a unique design shaped like the actual foot with rounded edges conforming to the bare foot to build confidence and reduce stumbles and falls. SRT Soft Motion is stride rite's most flexible technology and is designed to protect and support little feet without restricting movement.

STEP 3: Off & Running
Cushioning, durability and flexibility keep up with your kid on the go.
Child's Developmental Stage:
  • Walking steadily
  • Constantly on the move

Key Technology: When children are off and running, stride rite's Sensory Response Technology product is the best choice. The stride rite SRT collection is designed to optimize the biomechanics of the foot to allow children to develop healthy and natural walking patterns. SRT Preschool is engineered for active toddlers as their feet continue to go through a critical development stage. Plus, only SRT Baby and Preschool feature the Check Fit System™!
stride rite has translated the STEP education program in its stride rite stores through vibrant signage and a color-coded tiered wall display. Retail prices range from $22 to $50 across all three STEPs. For more information and to learn what STEP your child is visit

Aleratec DVD CD Disc Repair Plus Review

Like many households out there, we have DVDs and CDs. And like many families out there we have many scratched up DVDs. No matter how much we try to keep our kids from scratching them up, its inevitable. I dont know how many times we have thrown DVDs out because we thought there was nothing we could do. We have some that wont even play anymore. Its a shame because, obviously if they are scratched up then they were movies we liked. I have tried explaining to my daughter and I have tried to get it through to her that if she is done with a movie then she needs to put it up correctly. I know it is not all her either, we have a 2 year old, who thinks that rubbing a DVD on the floor is what he needs to do. He probably gets that from us, when we try to get DVDs clean before putting them in the DVD player. But the method of wiping down a DVD with our shirts doesnt always work and I am sure that we have also made some of our DVDs worse. It really is like throwing our money away. Especially when we think that there is nothing we can do to fix a DVD or a CD. I know that I can go and spend money at the movie store and have them repair my DVDs and CDs, but that is also spending and wasting more money. Until now that is. I was given a Aleratec DVD CD Disc Repair Plus to test and review courtesy of Aleratec! Finally a solution!!! As soon as we got the disc repair machine, we went and got some of our favorite movies, and gave this little machine a try. WOW!! I am amazed! We took some of our worst looking DVDs that were not even working anymore and ran them through the machine. Not only did this awesome device take the scratches out and clean our DVDs, but they actually work now! My husband got so excited, he went and got some of his favorite movies that were scratched up, and fixed them!! This is perfect for our home, and for any home for that matter. If you have DVDs and CDs then you probably have scratches on some of them. You need to go out and get the Aleratec DVD CD Disc Repair Plus machine today so you can watch those movies that you gave up on again. Then when you do get scratches on any other DVDs or CDs, you can fix them right away!
This is bad!!
The repair solution and the cleaning stuff!!
Adding the repair solution
Press the repair button
And just like that its done! Except now I need to figure out what wrong with my camera, bad pic!!
Very easy to use. Wish I had known that my camera was messing up at the time. But the DVD was all nasty with little finger prints and really, really, really scratched up. And the outcome was amazing. We put that DVD in right after and it worked just like it did when we first got it!!

The Kit Place Review and Giveaway Closed!

We love arts and crafts in our home. We also love to cook as well. So when given the chance to test and review a Pizza Anyone? kit from The Kit Place, we were very thrilled! This kit is so much fun. My daughter was so excited when it came in! The kit includes 1 apron, 1 chef hat, 1 set of fabric paint, 1 paint brush, glitter glue, stencils and a recipe card for whole wheat pizza. How fun!!! My daughter did not want to waste any time when it came to decorating her chef hat and apron. She was even nice enough to let her little brother help her, awwwwe! The kids and I sat at the table and began getting her hat painted. Estrella loves colors, so she got the glitter glue and painted each crease in the hat a different color, so purty!! Then she painted her name on the brim. I placed the hat on the counter to dry, while she went on to start her apron. She decided she wanted to use the stencils and paint fruit all over her apron. Her little brother did his part and painted his own design on there as well! After a while of creative painting it was time to put the masterpiece up to dry in the bathroom. We did not get to cook the pizza until this evening, so she decided to wait to debut her creation until then. As soon as I started to get the ingredients out for the pizza dough, she was ready with her apron and chef hat on, patiently waiting to help!! We created the pizzas and enjoyed every bit, from making them together in the kitchen to serving and eating the pizza for dinner. Yum!! This Pizza Anyone? kit was the perfect kit for our home! But I think we are ready to go and order our next kit for our next project!!! Over at the Kit Place they have kits for everyone. They carry kits for the college bound student to creative craft kits to share with your kids! I think we will be getting the Cupcake Chef next!! This is so much fun and you can order different kits for everyone in the family. If you are having a play date or a party they offer group kits that are perfect for keeping little ones busy!!! The wonderful people over at The Kit Place are also going to give one kit to one of my lucky readers!!

Pedipeds Review

It seems like every time I turn around, my son has outgrown something. He is only 2 years old and currently he is wearing a size 4t in clothes and 9 in shoes. He truly is my little monster, in more ways than just one! Just this past July we got him a couple pairs of new shoes. Mind you, this was the end of July. My little guy already out grew them. So anytime I can get shoes to test and review, I am all for it!! Since his surgery in August, he has wanted to live outdoors! He loves going out and playing and even more so now that he can keep up with the other kids. Part of being outside and playing is having a good pair of shoes. You have to make sure your kids are wearing good shoes that fit for so many reasons. I had used Pedipeds for my kids when they were just learning to walk, but I didnt think about them as being for older kids as well. So when I was given the opportunity to test and review a pair of Pedipeds for my kids, I immediately knew that I just had to try these on my son! Great decision on my part! First knowing that his shoes were getting too small and it was time to get some new shoes, I went for the boys shoes for the review. Then once I got them and we wore them to the park, seeing the flexibility in the shoes and also that the Pedipeds, being new shoes, were not bothering him one but. You know, when you get some new shoes, you have to break them in. Not the case at all. He did not complain about his shoes being too tight or stop to adjust them. Then when we got home, he didnt take them off right away like he usually does. To me that means that the Pedipeds were that comfortable. Awesome!! So when you are in the market for new shoes for your kids whether they are for your baby, toddler or kids, take a look at some Pedipeds. These are great for your childs feet. The people at Pedipeds believe that your childs shoes should be healthy for your childs feet. They are said to be the next best thing next to bare feet! After looking these shoes over and noticing the flexible rubber soles, I am jealous. I want some Pedipeds for me!!!!

Ovarian Cancer is one of the most deadly of women's cancers. Each year, approximately 21,880 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In 2010, approximately 13850 women will die in the United States from ovarian cancer. Many women don't seek help until the disease has begun to spread, but if detected at its earliest stage, the five-year survival rate is more than 93%. Recent research suggests that together the four symptoms of: bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and urinary urgency or frequency may be associated with ovarian cancer. It is estimated that more than15,500 women will die in the United States from ovarian cancer this year. Many women don't seek help until the disease has begun to spread. The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often subtle and easily confused with other ailments. Ovarian cancer is cancer that develops in the ovaries. The ovaries are part of a woman's reproductive system. They are located in the pelvis on either side of the uterus. Each ovary is about the size of an almond. The ovaries make the female hormones progesterone and estrogen and also release eggs into the fallopian tubes. Cancer begins at a cellular level. Normally, cells grow and divide to form new cells. These new cells take the place of old cells as they die. Cancer cells continue to grow and divide. These abnormal cells continue to create new cells forming a tumor. Ovarian Cancer Signs and Symptoms Ovarian cancer symptoms are often subtle and difficult to diagnose. Research suggests there are four symptoms that may be associated with ovarian cancer:
  • Bloating
  • Pelvic or Abdominal pain
  • Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
  • Urinary urgency or frequency
Other symptoms may include:
  • Nausea, indigestion, gas, constipation or diarrhea
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Backaches
Talk to your doctor if symptoms last more than 2-3 weeks. You are your best advocate.

Like many families out there, my family has suffered a loss due to Ovarian Cancer. Lets join together and help in furthering the research on Ovarian Cancer, so that we dont loose any other wonderful, loving and beautiful mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, friends or grandmothers to this disease.
