Sandy Trail Farm

With all of the holiday meals that we had to prepare, I was lucky enough to have received a hearty sample pack of amazingly mouth watering meats from a local Texas Panhandle farm called Sandy Trail Farm. We received and sampled juicy burgers, tasty bacon, scrumptious sausage, delectable ham and very yummy beef sticks!!! The burger patties we received were just amazing. These gourmet burgers are perfect for the grill and they come in several mouth watering varieties.

In 1/3 pound sized patties
(Their patties weigh more because they are lean, lean meat weighs more than fat)

Just plain 100% Angus cross beef.

Same tasty burger as the original beef burger with
a surprise of cheddar cheese chunks added!

What a treat for those who like things a little hot!
Made with hot peppers.
The bulk is great for your favorite Mexican food recipes.

Same great flavors as the Southwest burger with
the cheddar cheese chunks to complement the hot peppers!

For those who like mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers
This is the one!
Oh, so good!
The  bulk is great for your favorite meat loaf recipes.

Lean fresh pork burgers,
No fillers or binders.
Very tasty indeed!
The bulk is excellent in any recipe calling for ground beef or ground turkey.

I think I would have to say my personal favorite would be the Southwest Burgers! The chiles that are added to the meat make these patties just so appetizing and mouth watering. We added some bacon to our burgers, which I thought was a great way to top these burgers off. But in all honesty, the patties alone are great just the way they are, a perfect blend of meat and chiles!! The kids loved the Beef Burgers with Cheddar Chunks, I had to take a bite and these are also great burgers as well!!

With the bacon there are so many possibilities. From serving bacon with eggs for breakfast, making mouthwatering BLT's to wrapping the bacon around shrimp and jalepenos and topping our burgers off at dinner!! We have used the different appetizing varieties of bacon we received for many different meals and all of them have been very pleasing to the pallet!!

COUNTRY CURED BACON
Made with brown sugar.
It has that old fashion flavor.

WHITE SUGAR CURED BACON
Made with cane sugar.
A milder flavor than the Country Cured Bacon.
With every purchase of this bacon
we will make a donation to the
International Rett Syndrome Foundation

HOLLY CURED BACON
Made with cane sugar and just a touch of maple sugar.
It is a treat made with our good pork!

SWEETER THAN SWEET
Made with white, brown, and maple sugar.
The name says it all.
It has a very good flavor!

The sausages over at Sandy Trail Farm are perfect for a number of breakfast meals! We used the sausage for some biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos and as a side for a classic sausage and eggs breakfast!!
You can order your sausage from them in a variety of flavors. They have the link sausage, then the mild, medium, hot and extra hot sausage so you can cater to the different heat pallets in your home! The link sausages are full of flavor. They are all made with pork.
They do not contain any MSG, nitrites, fillers or binders.
They use collagen casings that are very tender when cooked.
These sausages are hickory smoked and fully cooked! Just heat and serve! The link sausages are great for cookouts, parties and for a great fast meal!!

The hams from Sandy Trail Farm make for a great meal. When you are looking to make a great sit down meal for your family or for a holiday meal that fit perfectly as the main course for a number of occasions, the hams a just so juicy and perfect. We have chosen to make a New Years ham this year, which was an excellent choice if I do say so myself! Along with our delicious ham, we made some jumbo shrimp with slivers of bell peppers and velveta cheese stuffed inside then wrapped in some of the delicious bacon from Sandy Trail Farm. Then a side of potatoes with chives and crumbled bacon sprinkled on top! A wonderful meal to end 2010!! There are so many meats to choose from over at Sandy Trail Farm and the animals that the delicious meats come from are all raised without any hormones, nor are they fed any antibiotics. They also do not feed any of their animals any animal byproducts. During processing the animals are not subjected to any stress due to transporting them. The processing plant is a USDA inspected plant and it is located on the farm. All of these factors make for some very high quality, safe and tasty meats that you feel good about serving to your family. And the people over at Sandy Trail Farm package their meats to where you can go to their store and pick up your meat or you can order from their online store and have it shipped anywhere in the country! I guess you can call me the Mom Ambassador for Sandy Trail Farm, and I am very happy to be able to share my thoughts and opinions on the wonderful high quality meats my family has been lucky enough to sample with my readers and the families of my readers!!! I look forward to many more reviews on the wonderful meats from Sandy Trail Farm as well as a tour in the future that I will share with my readers!!

Reflections of 2010 with a Toast to the New Year!

As we reflect on the year of 2010 and celebrate the New Year with friends and family, I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe New Year!! In 2010 we had a lot of obstacles to face and hurdles to get over. With my husband being a full time student and nearing the completion of his degree, there was a whole lot more of his time put towards school and of course with me being the only one working this year, finances became a whole lot tighter. We gained full custody of my daughter in late January, which was a very bitter sweat victory!! We faced many medical emergencies in the Spring with our 2 year old son who had a lung disorder. From seizures caused by incredibly high fevers, to fluid building up in his lungs. Then in August of 2010 our prayers were finally answered when the doctors decided it was time to go through with the long awaited surgery that our little man desperately needed to strive in life. Going through a familiar heartbreak with a dear friend of mine, who in a very unfortunate twist of fate, lost her baby girl 2 days before her due date. Medical issues with family, which I have taken as an eye opener, a warning so to say. 2010 has been a year of many ups and downs, as is the way of life. Over the past few years I have learned to take life for the way it is and not question what I have been given but to take everything, the good and the bad, as a blessing. Here's to obstacles overcome, and joys remembered. 2010 maybe gone but not forgotten, as of the many years passed!!

Alphabet Kids Review + Giveaway CLOSED!!

My kids love books! With my daughter in school and learning new words every day, we have her reading to us before her bedtime. She loves to read and her little brother loves for her to read to him! So when we were given the Alphabet Kids childrens' book set to sample and review, courtesy of Alphabet Kids, she was thrilled to read some new books and learn to read some new words. The series from Alphabet Kids consists of 6 books. In these 6 different books in the series, you get to meet and know each of the kids that make Alphabet Kids.
We started with Yang's New Dance.
In this great book you get to meet Yang and learn a little about the Chinese culture as well. Yang is a kid just like the other kids at school. The other kids notice Yang doing a very strange and unusual, yet very interesting dance. Yang brings in a very special guest to his class to teach his friends about this dance.

In Umar's Magic Oven the kids are asked to bring snacks in. The kids share their different types of breads, then Umar brings his dad in to show the kids how to make a very special and very yummy bread that is a bread that is native to his culture which is the Arabic culture.
Oni's Good Hair Day is a great book that I think every kid needs to read. Kids a cruel and sometimes they dont realize how cruel they can be. This book teaches that everyone is different. Different kids have different hair, and just because they may look different it does not make them bad. It also teaches kids that it is not ok to point out someones differences because it can hurt that persons feelings even when they might not have meant to do so.
Isaac's Zoo is a great book! In Isaac's Zoo, Isaac gets some new pets. Even though his pets are different it seems as though everyone has different pets too. Isaac decides to make a special event for all of his friends at school to be able to show and teach everyone about their different pets and what makes them special!!
In Elena's Birthday Surprise, Elena is so excited to get to school and celebrate her birthday with her friends. But when she gets there it seems as though no one seems to remember what day it is. This upsets Elena, but what Elena learns is that with just a little patience her friends are always there for her and have planned something very special for her!!

In Allegra's Apple Tree, the Alphabet Kids learn all about trees and how to be more respectful of them. Allegra brings up very good and interesting facts that their teacher had taught them and about how it is better for everyone if they not waste paper and learn to waste less!!

All of these books are great and we have enjoyed every one of these books. We also enjoyed getting to know all of the wonderful Alphabet Kids!! You can enjoy these great books as well with your kids by purchasing these great books from the Alphabet Kids site!! The wonderful people from Alphabet Kids would like to give one of my amazing readers the complete set of 6 great books along with a very nice book bag that can be reused, all courtesy of Alphabet Kids!!!

Kidz Bop Christmas Party

My daughter loves music and she loves the songs from Kidz Bop! She has loved all of the CD's that Kidz Bop has come out with so when we were sent the Kidz Bop Christmas Party CD, she was very excited to put it in the stereo!! We just got back from spending Christmas with my family and while we were on the road, we all took turns putting music on. When it was my daughters turn she was so excited to put her CD on. She had practiced singing some of the songs that are on the CD and she sang along for us!!! I love Kidz Bop because they come out with all of the newest songs that are topping the charts, but put their own kid friendly lyrics into the songs. The Kidz Bop Christmas Party CD is full of all of the Christmas songs we know and love so we were all able to sing along with my daughter to the music!!! This is a great CD and this makes a great addition to any holiday music collection that your kids will love!!

Pocoyo Toys from Bandai

My son loves Pocoyo, so when we were given some of the Pocoyo toys to sample this holiday season, I was very excited and so was my little man! We were given the Pocoyo Bump n' Go Car and the Sqeeze n' Play Pocoyo Plush, courtesy of Bandai to sample. The Pocoyo Bump n' Go Car is tons of fun for any little Pocoyo fan! The car plays music by just pressing on Pocoyo's head, when Pocoyo runs into things he stops then turns around, like I said lots of fun for any Pocoyo fan!! Then there is the Pocoyo Squeeze n' Play plush that is just the cutest little plush. You squeeze his tummy and he plays music and Pocoyo also giggles which is his cute little giggle that you can hear on his show. My son loves his Pocoyo toys and any little Pocoyo fan out there will love these adorable toys too!!

Pocoyo just loves to zoom around in his racing car! Press Pocoyo's head and off he zooms with music coming from the car. Press Pocoyo's head again and the music accelerates! When the car hits an obstacle, it stops, moves back and makes a U-turn!

10” Squeeze n’ Play musical plush are styled after the colorful characters from the show. Squeeze their tummy to hear familiar musical sounds from the show. Pocoyo Musical plush includes Pocoyo’s signature giggle.
