There’s something underfoot, and it’s inspiring people to rethink their rugs and carpets. Vecco™, an innovative home design tool for creating unique carpet transformations, launches today with an online retail store and its first interactive studio in Chicago. Vecco™ inspires creativity and individuality in a fun and unique way, allowing users to personalize carpets and rugs with easy-to-use templates and colorants.
Bringing inspiration and highlighting individual personalities in the home is within reach. With Vecco™, carpets can be transformed to complement and personalize any décor. Now, a nature-themed nursery can get a boost of butterflies and flowers on an area rug, while modern aesthetics can go graphic with geometric patterns. The design possibilities are virtually endless thanks to 50 different templates and more than a dozen colorants.
“Home designers start to find a room’s inspiration from the rug,” said Monica Pedersen, HGTV personality and design expert. “Vecco™ allows DIY-ers to set the stage and leave a personal, indelible mark in their homes. Best of all, it’s easy and fun.”
Vecco™ takes the traditional idea of stenciling and applies it to floor treatments. Specially-made templates from Vecco™ range from basic shapes to more elaborate images of items such as leaves or monsters. Users simply spray the colorant onto the areas of the rug exposed by the Vecco™ template to create their desired pattern. Unlike paint, the end result feels touchably soft with a texture similar to the rest of your carpet.
How to Use Vecco™
- Determine the room to use Vecco™ in and measure the space to cover with the design
- Select the Vecco template(s) and color palette(s) that suits the design best
- Shake the colorant bottle, position above the template and spray from a distance of 8 inches
- Blot template and repeat the process as many times as necessary in order to create the desired pattern; lift and let dry for 48 hours
- Spray the sealant through the same templates and let dry for 30 minutes, then reapply
- Allow 48 hours for the new pattern to set permanentlyVecco™ allows users to play with their designs without worry as nothing is permanent until the sealant is applied. If a mistake is made users can simply let the colorant dry completely (at least 48 hours) and vacuum.
“The Vecco™ brand is a new venture for the SC Johnson family of brands. We saw an opportunity to help make rooms just as unique as the people who live in them,” said Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President – Global Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability, SC Johnson. “We are excited to bring Vecco™ into the home design space giving DIY-ers a whole new canvas to showcase their personalities.”Colorants and sealants are available at $16.99 each and templates are $15.99 each at the Vecco™ website, www.veccostudio.com, or at a Vecco™ Design Studio. The average project costs around $200, assuming the design includes 4 colorants, 4 templates and 4 cans of sealant. As part of the DIY home furnishings market, a segment that grows an average of 6 percent annuallyi, Vecco™ aids many homeowners working with limited budgets and interested in DIY projects.
Vecco™ gives old, tired rugs and carpets a refreshed, new life with original designs, potentially extending their time in homes. Considering an estimated 5 billion pounds of carpet reaches landfills annuallyii, Vecco™ provides an easy-to-use, greener alternative to replacing carpet for an entire room.
