The Winter is coming, and in some places, it is already here. I am not talking about the season itself, I am talking about the Winter weather in general. Those icy, snow packed roads means time to make sure that your vehicle is prepared to weather through it and keep your family safe. I think that one thing that most people overlook is the shocks. The thing is, if your shocks are not any good, you can get in trouble with your vehicle when driving on slippery roads. Making sure your shocks are good and changing them out makes for a smoother, more comfortable ride for your family and safer handling for you. Your vehicle can actually take quite a beating over the winter months, and if you go in those months with bad shocks, you will quickly regret it. People get stuck and when they do, they can spin their tires on the roads, which then creates potholes. Or just the ice and slush on the roads can create those potholes, when you are driving down the road and you hit one of those potholes, you can easily loose control of your vehicle, especially on slick, icy roads. Those shocks are meant to absorb the majority of the impact, if they are bad you can easily get into some trouble. Recently we were sent a full set of shocks for my Beast! She really needed them, in fact it had been at least two years since we last had them changed, and with my husband taking her out hunting, I know that the shocks had taken quite a beating. But the wonderful people from Monroe Shocks were kind enough to send us some shocks so that we could prepare my Beast for the Winter months! Now it is recommended that you have a professional replace your shocks, but my husband is my mechanic for the most part and he was able to use a friends shop to replace our old shocks with the new ones. I honestly did not know that ours were bad until I drove my Beast with the new ones on her. I was very glad that we were able to get this done. I also learned that we should replace our shocks about every 50,000 miles, well I know my Beast has way more than 50,000 miles on her and I know that we probably drove her over 50,000 miles in the past couple of years. If you are curious about your shocks or if you know they need to get replaced, then take your vehicle to your local mechanic and ask for Monroe Shocks!!
