If your kids are anything like my daughter, then I am sure they love to be online. My daughter is limited to the time she gets to spend online, and she is also limited to where she can go online. But all the same, she loves to be online. She loves that she can chat with her friends and family online. I do sit next to her during her online time and watch what she is doing and as she gets older I hope that I will be able to trust her more with her being online. With her fascination with chat, she loves to do the different emotion characters with her friends and also play games with them on certain sites that they will all go to. Recently I was sent a very interesting device or you could say, little creature that can go online with your kids. It is called the Chatman Your Online Friend.
Chatman is a little yellow creature that looks kinda like those emotion faces that you use when chatting. Chatman is made for kids age 6-12 and is a great buddy for your kids to use when they are online. He will alert you when chat or internet surfing gets inappropriate, which is great since my daughter is wanting more privacy when chatting with her friends. She is 7, there is no privacy when it comes to her being online, lol!! Chatman integrates parental controls to keep your kids safe while they are online. This adorable little online companion can also help your kids with their homework, alert them when they have events, he has games and apps that your kids will just love, and he interacts with them while they are chatting online all while keeping them safe at the same time!! Well this year, whether you are still on the prowl for those last minute gifts or even for a great gift for a birthday, then check out the amazing
Chatman Your Online Friend! I am also going to be giving one of my amazing readers a Chatman of their own!!

My grandson is a little young for the computer by himself, but I'm sure there is software out there that I can purchase to only allow him to view specific websites only.

My son is only 8 months old, but I will definitely have parental controls set, so he can only view certain kid friendly sites when he is old enough to go on the computer. Have to watch out for the advertisements too! jj250@aol.com
When my grandson visits, I monitor his computer time and make sure that he is on safe sites.

We have parental controls on our computer and we have it set up in a main area where we can monitor it's use.

I keep the computer that my kids get on in the living room placed in an area that I can always visually see what sites they are on =) (jeni.monroe@yahoo.com)
Putting parent controls on helps and watching carefully to where they are going and what they are doing.

My niece is a little young right now for sitting at the computer alone, as she is still learning to read. So I'm usually with her when she wants to play games online. But we also have our parental controls set.

When my 6 yr old goes online he knows not to open any tabs himself. We open a couple of his favorite age appropriate sites such as sprout and nickjr and then keep checking on him every few minutes as we go past the computer room.

My daughter is too young to surf so far. I'd love to have this for when she gets old enough.

My daughter is only 6 so she doesn't use the computer without me there, and of course parental locks and time constraints.

We only let them use the community computer in the living room so they are monitored. amsstar5(at)Y*H**(dot) com
I personally have all of the parental controls set. I also check the history on the browser after they've been online. Every little bit helps.
our kitchen and living room is the location for laptops, both mine and the kids. Whether homework or games, it's open activity. I think Chatman is a great idea, just like I think isolating the kids back in their bedroom ... behind a closed door is just begging for them to go exploring and testing boundaries. Homework at the table is far quieter then the environment they learn in at school.
