Striving To Live Up To My Own Expectations #CloroxLounge

When we are kids, we are asked what we want to be when we grow up, and the answers that we come up with can be simple ones but when the reality kicks in as we grow up, those dreams and goals can be hard to achieve. I know that when I was little, I had wanted to be a princess, and I realized when I got older that my dream of being a princess might not be a realistic dream. So I came back down to Earth and came up with a realistic goal and ambition for my life. To be truly happy, you have to think about what makes you happy in life. What can you see yourself being or doing in life and see yourself being happy as well, what is your passion? That might be hard to pinpoint, but when I was in high school, I knew that I loved helping people and I also had a passion for writing. I have always loved sharing my life, and I love helping others so that they can live their own lives as best as they can. I not only love to be happy in my own life, but making others happy is very gratifying for me. So that is when I had to really think, what can I do in life, where I can truly be happy, make others happy and live life to the fullest? Well, I have always known that I wanted to write, but when I started looking into my career options, I found that nursing was part of my calling in life. Once I went into the medical field, I found myself to be very happy, and I enjoyed my job. I went into the psych field right off the bat, and I loved it. I loved being able to help people, being able to talk to them and help them talk through their issues. I loved being that person who was there to listen. I loved knowing that when I went home each day, that I did what makes me happy, I helped another human being. Even though it was in a psych facility, I was also there to provide a safe and therapeutic environment, and the nurses I worked with where also part of this goal that we set each day for each and every one of our patients. When I had my daughter, I realized that for me to be happy, I wanted to be able to be with her, at home, but at the time I did not have the support to reach that goal. I also realized that even though I was happy with my job, I was not achieving the goal, the ambitions that I knew I wanted to reach from the time I was little. I was not writing. After having my daughter, I found myself in a sweet but also bitter situation. I was happy being a mom, working in the medical field, but I was not happy with my spouse at the time and I was not completely happy with what I was doing with my life. So, I left, I left my daughters dad and decided that if I was going to be happy and achieve my dreams in life, I was not going to be able to do this while I was with him, I needed his support both emotionally and physically and it was not there. When I left him, I found myself again. I found that even though times were hard and I was going to have to adjust to a new life not just for myself but adjust as being a single mom, I would be able to do it. I was once again finding pride in myself, but deep down I knew that there was still something missing in my life. I knew that after having my daughter that I wanted that family, I wanted to achieve the goals that I had once set for myself, and even though I could not be that princess of royalty that I had once dreamed of being, I realized that I wanted to be treated like a princess by who ever I ended up with. Then, shortly after becoming a single mom, I met my husband. When we decided to get married, I put everything on the table. All of my dreams, ambitions, goals, and all of the good and bad that comes with me. I learned that being upfront and that not hiding anything was the best way to go in life, and the man I married was the one who did and still does treat me like a princess. We support each other in everything we do, or want to do in life. I found that I could do home health, be a mom to now three amazing kids, have a husband who treats me like the princess I had always wanted to be, and last but not least, I found that I could write and be a blogger! Which when you put it all together is everything that I had wanted to be in life. I have found myself and I am happy, and that is what life should be about!

Progresso Recipe Starters #Giveaway #MyBlogSpark CLOSED

Being a parent, we sometimes find it hard to come up with new ideas when cooking. I can go through my cookbooks and I find myself cooking the same recipes over and over again. Personally, I love trying new things, and I love finding products that make trying new recipes to cook for the family, easier. Recently I was given the chance to review the new Progresso Recipe Starters. I was sent the Creamy Portabella Mushroom and the Creamy Three Cheese. With the Creamy Three Cheese, I was able to create an amazing home made mac and cheese casserole that everyone loved, and with the Creamy Portabella Mushroom, I was able to make a very tasty and creamy beef stroganoff. I found that using these two Recipe Starters from Progresso to be a very smart move, so after trying the two I was sent, I went on and decided to give the other starters a try as well. A dish that we tried that turned out to be a huge hit was the Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken recipe that I got off of the Progresso Recipe Starters site, in which I used the Creamy Parmesan Basil. In all, we found that using the Progresso Recipe Starters helped with those school night meals, when we dont have the time to sit down and come up with a dish. Or when we are looking for something that is easy to prepare and cook and that the whole family enjoys. So with the back to school season in full swing, and those nights of what to cook here, give the Progresso Recipe Starters a try!

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 can (18 oz) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ creamy Parmesan basil cooking sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2/3 cup Progresso® Italian style panko crispy bread crumbs
  • 2/3 cup finely shredded Parmesan or Asiago cheese
  • Hot cooked pasta or mashed potatoes, if desired

Garnishes, If Desired

  • Additional shredded Parmesan or Asiago cheese
  • Chopped fresh basil or parsley

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat oven to 400°F. Line cookie sheet with foil; spray with cooking spray. Between pieces of plastic wrap or waxed paper, place each chicken breast smooth side down; gently pound with flat side of meat mallet or rolling pin until about 1/2 inch thick. Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. In shallow dish, mix butter, 3 tablespoons of the cooking sauce and the garlic powder. In another shallow dish, mix bread crumbs and cheese. Dip chicken into butter mixture, then dip into bread crumb mixture to coat. Place on cookie sheet.
  3. Bake 12 to 15 minutes, turning once, until juice of chicken is clear when center of thickest part is cut (at least 165°F) and coating is golden brown. Meanwhile, heat remaining sauce until hot. Serve chicken with pasta and sauce. Sprinkle with additional cheese and basil.

To introduce the new Progresso Recipe Starters to my readers, I will be giving one of my amazing readers a great gift pack of products pictured below!

Combi Catalyst (Preparing for Baby Guide)

Since Wyatt's arrival, just a few short weeks ago, I have been hooked. I have been in awe of this little guy. From all of the little noises that he makes to how he seems to be growing a little more each day. I find myself holding him for hours and talking to him, completely loosing track of time. I have been taking in every little moment that I can, because we all know that this time with a new baby goes by way too fast. On top of me being completely mesmerized by baby Wyatt, I am also in the process of trying to loose all of that baby weight, which can be a challenge, especially when you are breastfeeding. A activity that I missed when I was on bed rest and love to do is shop. I can spend hours at the mall, just walking around and looking at anything and everything. For me, having a good stroller to take with me to the mall or anywhere I may choose to go shopping, is a must have when you have a baby. I personally not only have to have a great shopping stroller that is easy to get around in and has the storage capacity for me, but I also love to go shopping in style. Recently I was sent such stroller, one that is the perfect stroller to take out when shopping. I was sent the Catalyst Stroller by Combi. The Catalyst is perfect for putting baby Wyatt in, from the bassinet feature, which is perfect for those times that he is awake, to the travel system, to the toddler ready seating, which are all features you will get with this stroller. I love having the bassinet for Wyatt, so when I am shopping he can relax and take a nice nap, and is a perfect feature to have during this adorable baby stage! Then when I am going in somewhere, and he happens to be asleep in his Combi Shuttle Car Seat, I can easily attach the car seat to the Catalyst and go on with my shopping, with out disturbing my little Wyatt!

I love that as Wyatt grows, this stroller is made to grow with him. So once we are out of the oh so adorable and cuddly baby stage, we can go right into the fun and exciting toddler stage with out batting an eye. With the multi-position toddler seat, Wyatt can continue to shop with mama in style and in comfort as well. I can also choose to use the front bar when we are starting to get into those big boy toddler stages, then as he grows I can easily remove the front bar so that Wyatt has the room he needs to remain comfortable. With the expandable canopy, I can keep the sunlight out of his eyes while we are doing some serious shopping outdoors, like when mommy hits all of those must see sidewalk sales or when the Farmers Market is open in the mornings! Then for mommy, I have the telescoping handle, which makes pushing this stroller easy for myself and for my husband as we switch off. Having the telescoping handle, prevents those parents who are not short like myself, from kicking the frame, which makes the whole operating and steering experience of this stroller one that parents of different heights can enjoy. The other feature, that I had mentioned as a must have when I am looking for that perfect stroller to use for when I am shopping, is the large basket. I know that when I am at the mall, especially with the holiday season creeping up on us, I need that storage. It is a must have in my book, and the storage that the Catalyst offers is perfect for this mama's needs, from the mall to the Farmers Market, I can load up and not have to worry about running out to the car to unload after each store I go to due to no where to store the items I purchased! So if you are in the market for a stroller that has the classy bassinet feature, but are also looking for a travel system, and also needing a stroller that can be used for a toddler as well, then you are going to want to check out the Catalyst Stroller from Combi. You can get all of these strollers that parents end up getting when they have a baby, without going and buying three different strollers. Also, to get the full experience of the travel system feature, you are going to want to get one of the compatible car seats like the Shuttle by Combi, which are not only compatible but also look great together!
Catalyst Features:

• 3-in-1 modular design for customized travel
• Lie flat bassinet position for sleeping baby
• Multi-position toddler seat
• Travel system adapter included
• Reversible seat/bassinet with 50 lb capacity
• Telescoping handle
• One-step brake
• All-wheel suspension

Hauck Freerider (Preparing For Baby Guide)

Is it just me or does it seem like when you are pregnant or when you have a baby, you realize that there are a lot of others in the same boat? This past year it seemed that everywhere I looked there was someone who just had a baby or who was pregnant. My Facebook has and continues to be flooded with new babies and pregnant mamas, which I just love! I love looking at baby pictures and watching those adorable little babies grow, I also love hearing the news of a new baby on the way and hearing about others pregnancy journeys! Well, my family is not that big as far as cousins and such go, but with my husband, he grew up in a house with 9 kids, 7 boys and 2 girls, and quite a bit of cousins as well. So, this past year he had a cousin who had a baby, then while I was pregnant, my sister in law was as well. She had her baby at the beginning of the summer, so I was able to follow her pregnancy while I was in the early stages of mine, then once she had our nephew, I was able to continue to watch that adorable little man grow. That being said, I have loved sharing all of the baby items that are must haves, and get the opinions of other mamas of what they have thought about those must have items for baby as well! My sister in law has two little ones. She has the new baby and a little girl who is about 3 now, so when it came to her search for a stroller that would be a great fit for their growing family, she knew that having a double stroller would be a must have for her. She is a very active mama, and loves taking her babies out and about with her when she goes on about her days off.
So, when I had asked her what a mom with one, soon to be two small children in the house, sees to be a must have when preparing for a new baby, she naturally told me that a double stroller that was light weight and easy to maneuver was a ideal fit. When I thought about it, it was a no brainer, she is so right. In order to function and get things done with two small kids when you are out and about, you have to have that double stroller. Then to have that double stroller be easy to take in and out of a vehicle, be lightweight and be easy to steer, well that is a hands down. So when I was given the chance to review the Hauck Freerider for the Preparing For Baby Guide on Mommy Katie, I knew that this stroller would be a perfect fit for her home and that she would be the perfect candidate for assisting me with the review! I was so right, she was shocked at how lightweight this stroller is, and she also loved that even though it is a double stroller, it is not a bulky monster of a stroller. In fact, it is not much bigger than a single stroller, so it does not take up much more room that your average stroller, and a feature that she loved and I will quote her, "It rides as smooth as a brand new car!" I personally have loved all of the items I have from the Hauck and Icoo family, and knowing that my sister in law is also very satisfied with another great product from the Hauck line, I was very pleased. So there you go. If you are preparing for baby, or are in the market for a double stroller that is lightweight, not bulky, and easy to maneuver, then you need to take a look at the Hauck Freerider!!

It is hard to believe, but it is true, Halloween is just around the corner. For me, Halloween means the kick off for the holidays. I love getting all of the decorations out and getting the costumes together. Halloween has been a holiday that I have loved since I was a kid, so I try to make it a fun and memorable holiday for my own kids as well. This year, to help celebrate Halloween, we have had a little addition added to our home. Not only is baby Wyatt here to help celebrate this year, but we were also sent a very creepy but also very adorable VamPET from the Vamplet family to add to our festivities. My daughter loves the line of Vamplets and Rabid Rabbit has found a home in her collection. This little rabbit is looking for something or someone to chew on and bite, so make sure that when she is in your home, you have plenty of room for her to run in and that you have plenty of chew toys for her to bite on, lol! I love the Vamplets and the VamPETs are just as cute and make for a great gift to give your own little Vamplet this Halloween!!! Kelty Speedster Swivel-Deluxe

Wyatt is here, and that means that this mama is ready to get back into shape. I know that some think that when you have a baby that it is all down hill from there with your figure, but that is not true. There is so much a mama can do after having a baby to get their body back. One thing that we as a family love doing is being outdoors and with the Fall here, there is a whole lot of outdoor time for us. We have sports for the kids and we also love spending these nice evenings going on walks and playing at the park. On top of our weekly activities we also love going to the canyon on nature walks with the kids, and with Wyatt here, we can continue to enjoy all of these outdoor activities as a family. The past few months I was on complete bed rest in the dark, and I have been so ready to get up and get moving again, so when it comes to products that we love to use when we are outdoors with the family, we choose Kelty. From their awesome camping gear to the great products that we can use with the kids, they include everyone in their line of products when it comes to outdoor family adventure gear, which also includes baby! Recently I was sent the perfect item for the mama who is looking to loose that baby weight. I was sent the Kelty Speedster Swivel-Deluxe from Kelty to review. I love how easy it is to maneuver, whether we are walking on the trail at the park, going for a walk down the street or for when we are up at the canyon going on a walk with the kids. This stroller also gives you piece of mind when jogging in the park with baby, because it has a five point adjustable child harness. Not only does the harness give piece of mind, but it also comes with reflective material, which is a must have for our evening walks and a bell to alert others on the trail when we are coming. I can hold my water bottle in the water bottle holders, then I can also hold my purse in the storage below the seat when we are going for a run! With the adjustable sun/rain hood, I can keep the sun out of babies eyes and even keep baby Wyatt dry if it starts to drizzle on us. The rear wheel brakes keep the stroller in place when I stop for a rest or when we are sitting at the park watching the kids play. A feature that I look for and love with this jogger is the fact that the frame is made from a lightweight aluminum, which makes taking this stroller in and out a easy task! In all, if you are looking for a great jogging stroller that you can take just about anywhere, then get the Kelty Speedster Swivel-Deluxe!!

Bright Starts™ Jammin' Jungle™ Activity Gym (Preparing For Baby Guide)

Baby Wyatt is here and we are having so much fun watching him grow everyday. Like most parents with a new baby out there, we are in awe of our baby and we love watching him. Over the past months we have been preparing for Wyatt's arrival and it seemed the list of must have items was a never ending one. A item that I have seen to be a must have with a baby is a activity gym. Babies need their tummy and play time from birth on up, and having a fun and playful activity gym is the way to go. Recently I was sent the  Bright Starts™ Jammin' Jungle™ Activity Gym to review. With a new baby comes all of the items that can take up room in the house, so having a activity gym that is easy to set up then easy to put away so it wont take up room is a must for me. In fact, I look for products that can be easily stored away and easily brought out and set up when it comes to anything for my babies or anything for our house for that matter. Well on top of the easy storage feature, you have the adorable and fun toys that baby can play with and interact with during playtime.  The elephant plays music when baby pulls on the ring that hangs from it, and baby can see themselves in the mirror that you can attach to be at babies eye level. With the bright colors and friendly animals that are on the mat, baby can enjoy tummy time. In all your baby can get the stimulation they need for their precious development during their tummy time and playtime with the Bright Starts™ Jammin' Jungle™ Activity Gym!!

Popcorn, Indiana

In our house, we cherish our movie nights. The kids know when to be ready and they know that there are preparations involved in getting ready for the movie. One thing that is must have during our movie nights is the popcorn. We have to have popcorn and the kids love getting the popcorn ready and putting it in the bowl for everyone to share! Recently we were sent some popcorn that is not like the average popcorn we usually go with. We were sent a couple of bags of the Original Movie Theater Popcorn from Popcorn, Indiana. What makes this popcorn different is that all we have to do to have warm popcorn is warm up the bag in the microwave. It makes that fear of burning the popcorn non existent. So we wont have to worry about that awful burned popcorn smell lingering in the house, and we dont have to worry about that taste that a few burned kernels can leave the rest of the bag ruined with. In fact, if we want, we can skip the movie all together and just enjoy a bag of Movie Theater Popcorn that is warm and fresh! The popcorn from Popcorn, Indiana, was a hit in our house on movie night, and we found that not only can it be a hit during our family movie nights, but it can be a hit anytime we want to snack on some popcorn!!!
Another great perk about the popcorn from Popcorn, Indiana is that you dont have to settle with just the one Movie Theater Popcorn flavor because they have many other flavors available as well that are ready to eat right out of the bag!!!

Creativity for Kids #Giveaway #CreativityforKids CLOSED!

Summer is over, but that does not mean that the fun is over. In our house, we try to keep the kids entertained and their creativity juices flowing all year round. We love finding great activity kits that the kids can have fun creating with and have fun doing together. Recently we were sent some really great creative activity kits that were not only for my daughter to enjoy, but also had something my son could enjoy as well! We were sent the Deluxe Glitter Art Kit, the Fashion Headbands and the Mossy Meadows Gnome Garden Kit from Creativity for Kids. For my daughter and her friends, they love to be fashionable and have fun letting those diva creativity juices flow over the weekends. It is kind of a way for them to unwind after a week of school, but instead of vegging out over the weekend, their amazing minds are still going when they are creating some fun projects together! Then with the Gnome Garden, my daughter and my son were both able to get together and have fun creating a fun little gnome garden! I love the products from Creativity for Kids. They have products for both boys and girls, that are great for a rainy day in, a sleep over, or just to be able to have when the kids say that there is nothing to do! My daughter loved the Deluxe Glitter Art kit for adding some sparkle to her mirror, and she is excited to put this kit to even more use when she makes cards and other great items this holiday season when making gifts for others! Then with the Fashion Headbands, my daughter and her friends found themselves completely engaged and having fun while making themselves some great headbands that they loved showing off when they wore them to school! In all, the kits we were sent from Creativity for Kids were great and my kids enjoyed putting all three kits to great use! Well, the wonderful people from Creativity for Kids would like to give one of my amazing readers their own Creativity for Kids kits!!!
