When preparing holiday goodies, there are so many different ingredients your recipes may require. Like for a delightful apple pie, this year using the Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract will make your apple pie something to talk about. Or how about some Vanilla Sugar Crepes for your holiday guests? There are so many wonderful possibilities out there when cooking with an awesome vanilla that can create a buzz on your homemade creations. When going all out this holiday remember to use some of the vanillas from Nielsen-Massey Vanillas. We have been able to test the vanilla on some really great recipes, including some really amazing ones that I found on their site. Talk about amazing! We have made many homemade apple pies, but adding some of this mouthwatering vanilla just took our apple pie to a whole other level. The recipe on their site for My Favorite Apple Pie, is just that, this recipe is now my favorite apple pie recipe, and I cant wait to make some more for holiday dessert this year at my parents house!! 4 or 5 large tart apples, such as Granny Smith,
Braeburn, Jonogold, or Pink Lady
¾ cup sugar
1 ½ tablespoons flour
1 ½ teaspoons Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla
¾ teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of salt
Pastry for two-crust pie
Pare, core and thinly slice the apples. Preheat oven to 425°F. In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add vanilla and mix well. Fit one pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan. Layer half of the apples into the crust. Sprinkle with half of the sugar mixture. Add the remaining apple slices and sprinkle with the sugar mixture. Cover with the top crust, trim to ½ inch larger than the pie plate and fold excess under bottom crust. Flute edge and cut several slits in the top crust. Bake 45- to 50 minutes, covering the edge with a strip of foil during the last 15 minutes, to prevent overbrowning.
