When it comes to preparing for a baby, there are certain items that you need. Like before you can leave the hospital, you need to have a infant car seat that is safe for the baby. I prefer a infant carrier that I am able to take in and out of the car easily, and also one that is not too heavy. I mean, once baby is here, when you are out, you might not want to wake up the baby when they are sleeping in the car. So if you are going to carry baby in a car seat, then you have to add the weight of the carrier to the weight of your baby, and consider how far you have to carry baby in that carrier. Well recently, Maxi Cosi released a new infant car seat that is the lightest infant car seat, weighing at only 8.6 pounds! The handle is also made so that it is easy to transport from car, to stroller and back as well as farther if need be. This new infant car seat is called the Maxi Cosi Mico AP, and it can hold a baby from 5-22 pounds, which is perfect for bringing home baby in from the hospital after birth!
What’s different about the MicoAP?
Revised base release handle located on shell
Superior Side Impact Performance: Featuring Air Protect® technology
Upgraded soft goods
Flip-out canopy visor for extra UV protection
Well for the older kids, there is also a new, easier to transport solution when it comes to the booster seat. Recently I was sent the BoostAPak from Safety 1st to review. I find this booster to be very portable and convenient for both Robert and Estrella.
The kids can use it as a backpack when they are out, then when they get in the car, it easily folds out into a booster seat, then back again. I love the storage area, which is perfect for carrying snacks or for when traveling on a plane, they can put their toys in it and it can go on as a carry on for the kids. Which beats having to lug a bulky booster around the airport or checking one in with the rest of the luggage! The BoostAPak is made for kids 40-80 pounds, which is right in the range for both Estrella and Robert, and the fact that it is cool looking, makes it something that the kids enjoy carrying around. This is great for when my parents come to visit as well, they can carry their booster seats from our cars to my parents car easily, then take their toys and snacks with them to the hotel and pool at the hotel when my parents are visiting here.
So if you are preparing for a new baby, and you want a car seat that is both safe and light, then check out the Maxi Cosi Mico AP. And for the older kids, get them the BoostAPak from Safety 1st! Well, with the kids back in school, the wonderful people from Safety 1st would like to send one of my amazing readers their own BoostAPak!
