When it comes to Father’s Day, I like to think of my own dad and the memories we made while I was growing up. One memory that I have is getting up on Saturday mornings and watching the cartoons that would come on with him, and one series we enjoyed watching was that crazy cat and mouse team, Tom and Jerry. Recently we were sent the new DVD Tom and Jerry: The Gene Deitch Collection to review, just in time for Fathers Day!

In this collection of Tom and Jerry cartoons, you get those iconic shorts that were created by Gene Deitch in the 1960’s. This collection of cartoons are not only a collection I can remember watching with my dad, but they were also a set of cartoons my dad enjoyed in his own childhood and a collection we have enjoyed sharing with my own kids! Each one of the shorts feature the battling duo as Tom the cat tries all of the tricks he can think of, to just be outwitted by Jerry the mouse! There are 13 shorts which are in this collection and they include:

  • Switchin’ Kitten
  • Down and Outing
  • It’s Greek to Me-ow!
  • High Steaks
  • Mouse Into Space
  • Landing Stripling
  • Calypso Cat
  • Dicky Moe
  • The Tom & Jerry Cartoon Kit
  • Tall in the Trap
  • Sorry Safari
  • Buddies Thicker Than Water
  • Carmen Get It!

Enhanced Content:

  • Tom and Jerry…and Gene: The Rembrandt Years
  • Much Ado About Tom and Jerry

This great collection is available to bring home now on DVD and is ready to share with dad this Father’s Day!

Product received, thank you to Warner Bros Home Entertainment as well as the PR for supplying me with a product for this review, all opinions are my own.

They really don't make cartoons like they used to. Love that they still show some of the classics though. Tom & Jerry was one of my favorites.
